Jarlsberg is a Swiss-style cheese from Norway, with the characteristic eyes of all Swiss cheeses. It is a cheese that has a creamy, mild, nutty flavor, and a moist pliable texture. Unlike most other Swiss-type cheeses, it is a softer swiss, made from part-skim milk. It is a popular cheese, often used for appetizers, sandwiches, and cheese platters in place of Domestic Swiss. Tastes best with white wines such as Gewurstraminer, Riesling, Chenin Blanc, or Chardonnay.
