A cheese originating from the Netherlands, also made domestically. It is a good, all-purpose table cheese that can be served a variety of ways. It is similar in taste and texture to Edam, another Dutch cheese. Excellent when served with a fruity wine such as Gewurstraminer, Riesling, Chenin Blanc, or White Zinfandel.

Appearance:   Small rounded wheels, loaves, or balls; waxed red or yellow casing; pale yellow interior; has a few small holes
Texture:   Smooth, slightly less moisture than other semi-soft cheeses
Taste:   Mild, nutty, buttery
Uses:   Snacks - sliced, served with crackers, pickles, even jam;
Cooking - melted on sandwiches, casseroles, omelets;
Sandwiches - sliced or melted on beef, ham, turkey sandwiches

This wine expresses itself with fragrant floral notes with fresh strawberries and hints of ripe watermelon. The wine exhibits a light body with a sweet finish providing balance and elegance for pleasurable drinking on its own or to be easily paired with many foods.
